Meaning of Do-San:
Do-San is the pseudonym of the patriot Ahn Chang-Ho (1876-1938), who devoted his life to furthering the education of Korea and its independence movement.

Do-San: Step-By-Step Description​
The illustrations for this pattern assume that the student is standing on line AB and facing D

Move the left foot to B, forming a left walking stance toward B while executing a high side block to B with the left outer forearm

Execute a middle punch to B with the right fist while maintaining a left walking stance toward B

Move the left foot on line AB, and then turn clockwise to form a right walking stance toward A while executing a high side block to A with the right outer forearm

Execute a middle punch to A with the left fist while maintaining a right walking stance toward A

Move the left foot to D, forming a right L-stance toward D while executing a middle guarding block to D with a knife-hand

Move the right foot to D forming a right walking stance toward D while executing a middle thrust to D with the right straight fingertip

Twist the right knife-hand together with the body counter clockwise until its palm faces downward and then move the left foot to D, turning counter clockwise to form a left walking stance toward D while executing a high side strike to D with the left back fist

3. Three-Step Sparring (Adults Only)
Numbers - 5, 6 & 7
Attack - Always three middle section front punches in walking stance, starting with right leg back, low block.
Defence - Always begins in parallel ready stance (chunbi position)
Number Five
Step 1) Right leg back L-stance, middle outer forearm block to the inside.
Step 2) Left leg back L-stance, middle outer forearm block to the inside.
Step 3/Counter) Move to the right into sitting stance.
Execute a left outer forearm block and a right high section punch simultaneously.
Number Six
Step 1) Right leg back L-stance, middle knifehand block to the inside.
Step 2) Left leg back L-stance, middle knifehand block to the inside.
Step 3/Counter) Move to the right into sitting stance.
Execute a left outer knifehand block and a high inward knifehand strike to the neck.
Number Seven
Step 1) Right leg back L-stance, middle outer forearm block to the inside.
Step 2) Left leg back L-stance, middle outer forearm block to the inside.
Step 3/Counter) Right leg slide back at a 45 degree angle into L-stance, forearm guarding block.
Execute a right front snap kick landing in a right walking stance, double punch.
